Having reread Leonard's much briefer source story I think Hollywood did a very nice job here beefing up the story.Leonard reportedly disagrees. Notice how frame by frame she becomes better looking. Not to mention the lead actress Maureen O'Sullivan. The widower stationmaster at Sasabe living alone with his young son RS alone on his ranch, Rintoon, soon to be without a job and even Frank Usher, alone even while surrounded by Billy Jack & Chink. There's a theme I missed on my first two viewings about the unfavorable fate for those living alone. Scott has just the right mix of good, bad and independence. Scott is perfect as Leonard's hero Boone has a great laugh and is maturing into his Hombre character. He always seems to get the girl- difference between him and Boone who never seems to, save Hombre. Boone, Da Silva (Chink) and Billy Jack (source of Tom Laughlin name?) are fascinating and Scott is interesting to watch. Rare double courage for AH and likely his film screen highlight.

Later, as the only chance to stop the gang that plans to rob his coach appears, Rintoon grabs inside the boot for his shotgun. RS is sans his pride horse having lost a wager with the man who owns The Tall T and who audits his form Tinvoorde. Riding a stage that has been "commandeered" by a wealthy bookkeeper, against orders he stops to pick up hitchhiker Pat Brennan (Randolph Scott). I think Arthur Hunnicutt (Bull from El Dorado) and a veteran of Westerns, scores a personal best here as Ed Rintoon. The waterfall is around 20 feet high and certainly a treat for your eyes. Bhivpuri is gaining popularity with tourists for its numerous waterfall. Bhivpuri Waterfall is just 119 kms away from Pune in a small village in Karjat taluka. I saw this flick this morning on Encore Western it was my second time. In store for you this weekend is the breathtaking 20 feet fall near Karjat, The Bhivpuri Waterfalls.
